Overview

Oak Cottage sleeps 4 and comes complete with modern appliances and original features, such as the trusses and Roman numerals inscribed on each, as well as plenty of space to kick back and relax after a day spent exploring the neighbouring North Yorks Moors and coast.

With an upside-down approach (bedrooms downstairs, living area on the top floor) this former working livestock barn has been restored using traditional building materials and methods, and, every which way you gaze, you are reminded of the serenity of the surrounding area.

The hot tub and enclosed terrace, complete with teak furniture and Weber BBQ, are just perfect for relaxing with a glass or two of something bubbling and guests are also granted access to a number of shared amenities, including a picnic field, outdoor children’s playground and indoor games room.

*The hot tub is for exclusive use and subject to an optional heating + caretaking charge of £75 for the entirety of your stay.

This is an ideal base for visiting the towns of Whitby and Scarborough and higgledy-piggledy seaside village Robin Hood’s Bay. Or, if you’d prefer to stay closer to home, the 21-acre Thirley Cotes Farm estate offers woodland walks and resident wildlife in abundance.

We provide a welcome pack of bread, milk, biscuits, jam and wine, and, as this one of our pet-friendly properties, we can accommodate 1 large – medium or 2 small sized dogs. Due to the cottage’s layout, no exceptions can be made.

There are tracks and trails for all ages and abilities accessible from the doorstep and our office is based on-site, so staff are available to greet you and provide guidance.

Had a wonderful stay at Oak Cottage. Lovely welcome pack it felt like home from home. Loved the peace and quiet, so tranquil and relaxing. Beds were comfy, open plan area was ideal for us. Great base for long walks to various places. Hot tub was amazing, already planning on our return next year. Thanks.
