Overview

Are you searching for a break for 6 guests or less? Book an off-peak stay at Sycamore Cottage and enjoy the additional space at our reduced ‘small party stay’ rate.

Select your desired dates and number of guests in the pricing and availability calendar to reveal the discounted rates.

Largest of the Thirley Cotes Farm cottages, Sycamore Cottage sleeps 10 guests across 5 bedrooms and is located just a short drive from the seaside towns and villages of Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay.

Formerly a thrashing barn and grain store, this traditionally restored self-catering retreat has definitely shrugged off that mantle and provides a truly home-from-home experience, complete with 21 acres of surrounding grounds and woodland, home to wildlife in abundance.

This upside down home (bedrooms downstairs, living spaces above) features an enclosed front-facing terrace garden and hot tub, perfect for large families and groups of friends.

*The hot tub is for exclusive use and subject to an optional heating + caretaking charge of £75 for the entirety of your stay.

Sycamore is part of our pet-friendly collection and we can accommodate 2 well-behaved dogs of any size. We also offer a complimentary welcome pack of milk, bread, biscuits, jam and wine.

Our office is based on-site, so staff are available to greet you and provide guidance during your stay. Guests can also enjoy a selection of shared facilities, including an outdoor children’s playground, picnic space and small games room with pool table and family entertainment.

In the area

There’s lots to do in this charming corner of the country, known as The North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast. You’re perfectly located to explore the seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey, as well as the higgledy-piggledy village of Robin Hood’s Bay, where you can stroll along sandy seashores, spot seals or even pay a visit to the grave of Bram Stoker’s Dracula atop Whitby’s abbey ruins. The nearby North Yorks Moors are renowned as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offer tail-wag worth walks in abundance. Find out more

We all had a really nice time for my Grandad’s 60th birthday! Enjoyed the hot tub and playing in the park. The cottage is nice and big and close to the seaside. Our dogs Toffee and Bramble had loads of fun too. Thank you!

MS LISA BELL

Everything was perfect in Sycamore Cottage which made for a truly memorable stay. So this is a big “Thank You” for all the hard work you have put in to making Thirley Cotes Farm such a wonderful holiday destination. The long wait to be there was worth it.

Ian and Adele

Really clean, comfortable and really well equipped. All gardens and surroundings are so lovely, you can see all the care and thought that’s gone into it. Just a lovely place to be. Thank you.

Julie, Gary, Oliver and Adam.

“Best place to stay ever”. I loved the hot tub especially at night with the lights on! We liked eating as a family of 10. the sofas were great for family games nights. The beds were very soft it was everything we could wish for. Thank you for the welcome pack.
