Q: Is Thirley Cotes Farm pet-friendly?
A: We are happy to welcome dogs of select sizes, but no other pets are allowed.
Q: Do four-legged friends stay for free?
A: We charge an additional fee of £20 per dog, per week or short break.
Q: How many dogs are permitted per property?
A: All of our cottages welcome dogs, but please refer to our property profiles (link) or call us on: 01723 871782 if you’d like to bring more than one canine companion along for a stay, as the number of dogs permitted differs across the Thirley Cotes collection.
Q: Where can we walk our dog close by?
A. There’s a large amenity field and woodland within the grounds of the Thirley Cotes estate and plenty of tail wag worthy walks accessible from the doorstep.
Q: Can our dog(s) remain unattended?
A: No, we do not allow dogs to be left unattended across any of our cottages at any time.
Q: What time can we arrive at our cottage?
A: Check-in is from 4pm and you can gain access to the property via a key-safe located to the right of the front door. A code for the key-safe will be included in your pre-arrival email.
Q: What time are we required to leave on our last day?
A: The latest departure time is 9am.
Q: How far away is the closest supermarket?
A: Proudfoots is approximately a 15 minute drive from Thirley Cotes Farm. Opening hours are 7am till 9pm Monday to Friday and 10am till 4pm on Sundays.
Q: Can we arrange a delivery to our cottage?
A: Yes, all nearby supermarkets deliver to Thirley Cotes Farm. Please provide the name of your cottage and select a slot to be delivered after your arrival.
Q: Do we need to bring kitchen essentials?
A: We will provide a small supply of dishwasher tablets, washing machine pods, washing up liquid, hand soap, dishcloths, scourers, bin liners, tin foil and cling film.
Q: Are towels and bed linen provided?
A: Yes, bed linen and towels are provided, as well as additional hot tub towels per guest.
Q: Do you provide food supplies on arrival?
A: We offer a welcome pack for you and your four-legged friends, which includes a selection of produce from local suppliers, including bread, milk, coffee, jam, biscuits and wine. As well as dog-friendly treats and provisions.
Q: Why do you charge a security deposit?
A: This is payable prior to arrival and to cover any damage/breakages whilst staying in our cottages.
Q: Will the security deposit be refunded?
A: Yes, providing there are no damages or breakages we will refund your security deposit in full within a week of departure.

Q: Do you charge a deposit when making a booking?
A: Yes, the deposit amount is 25% of your total fee and this needs to be paid at the time of booking.
Q: Can we make a provisional booking?
A: Yes, we can hold a provisional booking for three days. If no deposit is received by the cut-off date agreed, your reservation will be cancelled.
Q: When is the full holiday balance due to be paid?
A: Complete payment is due 6 weeks prior to your arrival date.
Q: How can we locate Thirley Cotes Farm?
A: You will receive an email inclusive of directions pre arrival.
Q: How do we find you using Sat Nav?
A: Our address is Waite Lane, Harwood Dale, Scarborough, YO13 0DR. We advise entering our postcode once you reach Scarborough for the most direct route.
Q: Is car parking available on-site?
A: Yes, there are designated parking spaces close to each cottage.
Q: What if we arrive in more than one car?
A: There’s a small overflow car park on-site to accommodate.
Q: We have an electric vehicle; do you provide charging points?
A: Yes, we have two communal electric car charging points which are free of charge.
Q: Is smoking permitted on-site?
A: We do not allow smoking in any of our cottages or across the Thirley Cotes estate.
Q: Will the hot tub be ready to use on arrival?
A: Hot tubs are emptied and cleaned after every party departs. As it takes a few hours to heat, the water may not quite have reached full temperature by your arrival time.
Q: What is the temperature of the hot tub?
A: Our hot tubs are set to be no hotter than 38 degrees. This is the maximum temperature advised by the manufacturer.
Q: Can children access the hot tub?
A: Children under the age of 16 are advised not to access our hot tubs for health and safety reasons.
Q: Do you supply details on the layout of the Thirley Cotes cottages if a guest has limited mobility?
A: Yes, there’s an access statement for each property and this can be made available on request.
Q: Do you offer information on local walks?
A: Yes, we can provide a map of the area, showcasing routes from the estate and we also have a selection of leaflets and hiking literature available to borrow from the on-site office.
Q: Where can we eat close by?
A: We provide a list of restaurants and cafes as part of our in-cottage information pack. You can also read online reviews left by guests via our website and social channels for recommendations.
Q: What about using my mobile phone?
A: Signal can be sourced at the entrance to the estate and you can connect to both WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger through via high-speed WiFi across all of our cottages.
Q: Where do we dispose of our rubbish?
A: There’s a bin store located at the entrance to the estate.
Q: Do you provide recycling opportunities?
A: Yes, in your property you will find a plastic container for all recycling. This should be emptied into the blue containers located in the bin store on departure.
Q: Where do we dispose of used doggie bags?
A: There’s a designated dog bin on-site or they can be disposed of in the bin store (green container).
