Why Visit Whitby?
From the atmospheric Abbey that inspired Dracula to the windswept beach and bustling harbour, this is not your “traditional” coastal town and a brilliant corner of the country to delve into throughout the year, especially as the seasons change.
Here are just a handful of reasons to visit Whitby when joining us for a stay this Autumn / Winter and make the most of crisp coastal strolls and lashings of local produce.
1. The History to Uncover
One of the most visited sites here on the North Yorkshire Coast are the ruins of Whitby Abbey, beautiful to behold and steeped in heritage. You can also follow in the footsteps of voyager Captain James Cook and board the HMS Endeavour for a brisk seaside expedition.
2. The Fabulous Fish and Chips
As befits a British coastal town, Whitby is crammed with wonderful fish and chip shops and because it’s a working port, the catch is a fresh as you can get. Perfect to warm the cockles before more exploration.
3. The Stunning Scenery
The surrounding scenery is both wild and sedate, offering something for everyone. There’s a family friendly bay providing the full seaside experience, colourful beach huts and a golden coastline that stretches to Sandsend. While the neighbouring North York Moors is great for wildlife watching.
